What happens to my pet’s cremains if I choose communal cremation?

Perpetual Memories spreads communal pet ashes locally in a nature preserve ensuring your pet remains in the community.

What if I want different urn options than you offer?

Perpetual Memories offers biodegradable urn options, but if you prefer to purchase and use your own urn, we can return your pet’s ashes to you in a biodegradable bag, or you can provide us with the urn and we will place the ashes for you.

How much more ash do I get than with flame based cremation?

You'll get more ash because aquamation is water-based and doesn't burn away any remains.

What can I do with the remains?

You can keep the ashes in an urn, bury them in a cemetery, or scatter them in a special place.

What happens to the water used in aquamation?

The water is returned to the earth and can be used for fertilizer or to benefit water treatment plants.

Is aquamation environmentally friendly?

Yes, aquamation is an environmentally friendly alternative to cremation or burial because it doesn't release greenhouse gases, carbon monoxide, or mercury.

What are the remains like?

The remains are a fine white to tan powder that's sterile and safe to handle. They're different from flame cremation remains because they don't have any charring.
